Dimensions for each product are available when viewing the General Information tab of an item on each product page. Most bags are available in multiple sizes

 

The Gauge is a measurement of the Thickness of the material and is usually listed in Mils. 1 Mil - A unit of measurement in thousandths of an inch. (i.e., .001 mil = one thousandth of an inch or 1.0 mil). Generally used to designate the thickness of LLDPE products.

 

To convert mil to inches take mil & divide by 1000.

Ex: 2 mil/1000 =.002 inches

 

To convert mil to gauge, take mil and multiply it by 100.

Ex: .80 mil x 100 = 80 gauge

 

Examples of thickness and usage (these are very general ideas):

1 MIL: These bags are the economical choice for light-weight protection. Great for water-proofing, temporary storage or just protecting from dust, dirt & moisture.

2 MIL: This thickness is perfect for shipping parts, clothing, catalogs, or protecting food.

3 MIL: Use as the outer packaging to make a water-proof & tamper-proof packaging.

4 MIL: Solid protection - very strong - these poly bags are an excellent choice for shipping items such as industrial tools and supplies through the mail or UPS. Also great for freezer bags too!

6 MIL: Extra thick poly bags provide heavy-duty protection for heavy objects or items with sharp edges. Protects against punctures and tears.

8 MIL: Super heavyweight bags for maximum strength
